Happy New Year!

I am NOT a night owl. So you can only imagine how much I do not look forward to New Year's Eve. It's a night that you are practically required to stay awake until midnight. Forget the fact that you have a child with an internal alarm clock set to 7 am. 6:30 if she knows that you have been up late the night before.
So when Freddy and I decided to invite Sara and Austin down to ring in the new year with us, I had two rules.
1. Everyone must wear pajamas or sweatpants.
2. No makeup allowed.
It ended up being a fun, low-key night with good friends.
We ate, drank and played wii until midnight. Yes, I actually stayed up until midnight. But I was still tired the next day.

Rubber Duckie

Carly may still be t-tiny, but the kitchen sink just wasn't cutting it anymore for bathtime. So for Christmas Nana and Grandpa bought her her very own Rubber Duckie bathtub.
She LOVES it!
She loves to splish-splash and daddy loves to squirt mommy with Carly's bath toys. She especially loves it when mommy or daddy squeezes the beak and the duck quacks.
She does not, however, like to have her hair washed. AT ALL.

Highly Flammable

We watch all of the Cowboys games with our friends and neighbors. The majority of the time we watch them in our garage. When it's nice outside, we enjoy the weather with the garage door up. When it is cold, we close the door and turn on the propane heater.

For Christmas, our neighbor Austin got a Miles Austin jersey. So naturally he wore it to cheer on the Cowboys the first chance he got.

Priscilla became a bit hot, sitting so close to the heater. Austin, being the chivalrous man that he is, came to her aid. He stood in front of the heater, reached around the back of it and turned down the heat.

When he stood up, he smelled something. It was his jersey. Although he did not actually touch the jersey to the heater, he did get close enough to it to burn a hole in it.

To end on a happy note, his father-in-law took the jersey back to the store the next day. He told them exactly what happened and the sales associate felt so sorry for him that they allowed him to exchange it for another. Unfortunately they did not have any more Miles Austin jerseys, so he had to "settle" for an Emmit Smith jersey.
Austin has since been extra-cautious around heat and open flames, especially when wearing highly flammable clothing.

High Chair Happenings

Every time Carly is in her high chair I will always ask her, "Where's Lola?" and she immediately looks down to find her. It's so cute...and a sign of great intelligence, too - right?

And when she is done eating, Lola takes care of the clean-up for me.

A Delta Zeta get-together

During the holiday break, I got together with a few of my sorority sisters. Carly and I picked up Landri and Kristi and headed to Jessica's house in Forney. Jessica, Rett, Carson and Cooper were awesome hosts and hostesses. Thanks, Eickenloffs!
Joni brought Fisher and Kimmy brought Zinnia, too. It was so fun to get together with all of our babies. I wish that we could have stayed longer, but Carly didn't take an afternoon nap, so she was d.o.n.e.
I almost didn't post this pic, but I guess it can be my motivation. No, I am not pregnant. I just...drank too much water?...ate too many mashed potatoes?...made a poor wardrobe choice? Yuck, I look gross.

We tried to get a picture of all the kiddos and these were the best that I ended up with...

We HAVE to do this more than once a year, ladies. Love ya'll!

An oldie but goodie

Freddy made a second atic entry over the New Year's weekend and laid some more floor, so we have been packing up things in the house and sending them north. I thought that Carly had outgrown her swing, but clearly I was wrong.
After this pic, we adjusted the seat so that she could sit up a little more and she had a BLAST! She is such a little dare devil. She loves to swing, dangle and get thrown in the air.

Besties

I can't stop Lola from licking Carly in the mouth.
And I can't stop Carly from opening her mouth when Lola licks her.

A difference of opinion

I think that Carly's bows look cuter in her hair.

She likes them better in her mouth.

Daddy's Girl

Princess Lola

Carly got a princess chair from Grandma and Grandpa for Christmas.
Lola likes it, too.
I wish I could say that she planted herself here, but she didn't. I just thought that it would be a cute picture. It is.

I see you!

We thought that she was asleep and we were free to turn on the hall light and dig some stuff out of the attic. We were wrong.
She is the best bedtime baby ever. She knows that the crib means sleep and she only cries in her crib when something is wrong. She hardly ever sits up or looks out...so when we saw her peeking out at us we thought it was extra cute.

Stuck

Carly can crawl backwards and sometimes that leaves her stuck under the coffee table our couch.

Sometimes she's happy about it...

...sometimes not so much...

...sometimes she's not alone...

...and sometimes Lola has kisses for her.

Sometimes I bet she wishes she knew how to crawl forward, away from Lola.

Even in the high chair

In the stroller or the hight chair, Carly feels the need to get comfy and prop up a foot.

Christmas Pajamas

As a new mom, I was advised that Christmas Pajamas were a must.
...and that they weren't allowed prior to Thanksgiving Day, you know to give Thanksgiving some respect.
Well...these had to come out two nights before just because she had outgrown her the 9 month jammies and the non-Christmas jammies were in the wash.
But she looked sooooo cute.

Too cute not to post

A few of my recent favorite pictures

It's January and I never got around to posting about our Thanksgiving, so I thought that the least I could do was post two pictures that we took that day.
Our Thanksgiving was great, by the way. Low-key, here at the house with family and friends. Followed, of course by shopping the next day that was cut short when Freddy took Carly to the doctor and we found out that she had not one, but two ear infections. Her first sickness and she was a real trooper!

And then here are some cute ones I took after our Christmas Card Shoot.

All bundled up

No matter the weather, Carly always looks cute.

Christmas Card Pictures

Sara took our Christmas card pictures this, I mean last, year.
Carly was distracted by Lola...

...but we still managed to get a few good pictures.

Crawling?

Carly is not quite there yet. But she does roll, sit up, roll, turn, scoot, roll , backwards crawl and roll some more.
I think that if anything will get her crawling it will be her intense desire to get to Lola. She is always reaching for her, which sends Lola running. She doesn't like to be bothered - even by adorable little T-Tinies.
Don't worry. She's not as frustrated as she looks.
